It isn’t every day that you get to witness an incredible musician’s first official gig ever. You’d be lucky to witness 3 or 4 of these gigs in your lifetime if you’re lucky. We were that lucky.

At the last Songwriter Circle (circa Feb. 17, 2012) we had 4 great local songwriters (Graham Ord, Bethany Petch, Gary Norris, and Hayden Ward) but this was an exceptional honour to host because it happened to be Hayden’s first official gig. Ever.

Not only did the packed house at the Streaming Cafe witness it but we’ve got some footage to prove it. He played this fantastic cover of Bon Iver‘s “Skinny Love” but Mr. Ward packs a security and depth to his own songs that is refreshingly rare and we’re hoping this won’t be the last time we hear this guy. Feel free to leave some comments for him here… we’ll make sure he gets them.
