Katalyst | with Dave Moore and Micah Mazur
Venue: Streaming Cafe
Our October Katalyst will feature Musician and Businessman Dave Moore and music from young singer songwriter Micah Mazur.
Dave’s talk is called “S*** Happens” and is a candid look at how adversity shapes you as a creative person. Integrity as an artist is such a huge value and engaging with those difficult questions in life rather that hiding from them is very often the Artists journey. Dave will share about his own journey almost losing his life in a catastrophic fall through a roof in which he broke his neck and shattered his wrist, an event that although he survived, almost also ended his musical career. Dave is a deep well of experiences which was dug in the rubble of personal adversity. He’s not one to make a big deal of it and so to get him to share his insights at Katalyst is something of a rarity. He would rather just get on with things serving people with his life and music and getting involved in the community where ever he can.
Dave Moore is originally from the UK, he has been a musician since his early teens he has toured all over te UK and Europe and the US. He also has a theology degree . He started and ran DM Music in the UK for many years, a hugely successful supplier of musical instruments and PA. He moved to Vernon five years ago and now runs an online midi file download company and also works as a musician with various bands in the valley. Dave and his wife Debbie are on the leadership team of Tribehouse Artist Collective.
Micah Mazur is a fine up coming singer/songwriter who has been performing since the beginning of 2010. Already she has won Kelowna’s talent search last year. She will be recording her first E.P. later in November. Micah has also been selected to be part of TribeHouse’s Teen singer songwriter mentorship program which will culminate in a live recording and video being recorded at the Streaming Cafe on November 8th.
