Upside-Down Kingdom Live! – An evening with Shane Claiborne and Ryan McAllister
Upside-Down Kingdom Live! – An inspiring evening of creativity, conversation and community with speaker, activist and author Shane Claiborne and Ryan McAllister.
Tribehouse is proud to be partnering with World Vision Canada to bring Shane Claiborne and Ryan McAllister to Bo.ttega Farm Inn to present a special evening called “Upside down Kingdom”
Shane Claiborne is known around the world as a speaker, activist, author, and the founder of the ‘Simple Way’ an inner-city community in Philadelphia famous for taking a disused cathedral and making it a home for many homeless people in that city. He has worked as a peacemaker in some of the most troubled regions of the world – from Rwanda to the West Bank – and he’s been on peace delegations to Afghanistan and Iraq.
Living as an Ordinary Radical (foreword from his book The Irresistible Revolution)
Many of us find ourselves caught somewhere between unbelieving activists and inactive believers. We can write a check to feed starving children or hold signs in the streets and feel like we’ve made a difference without ever encountering the faces of the suffering masses. In this book, Shane Claiborne describes an authentic faith rooted in belief, action, and love, inviting us into a movement of the Spirit that begins inside each of us and extends into a broken world. Shane’s faith led him to dress the wounds of lepers with Mother Teresa, visit families in Iraq amidst bombings, and dump $10,000 in coins and bills on Wall Street to redistribute wealth. Shane lives out this revolution each day in his local neighborhood, an impoverished community in North Philadelphia, by living among the homeless, helping local kids with homework, and ‘practicing resurrection’ in the forgotten places of our world.
Shane’s message will comfort the disturbed, and disturb the comfortable . . . but will also invite us into an irresistible revolution. His is a vision for ordinary radicals ready to change the world with little acts of love.
We are very honoured that he can make time to come to Bottega Farm Inn, Kelowna, and share his passion for community and social justice with us.
Shane will be joined by Ryan McAllister who is a very talented Canadian singer songwriter and record producer. Ryan performs both solo and with the popular trio North Country Gentlemen.
Shane and Ryan are both representatives of World Vision and will also share about World Vision’s incentive to connect artistic people with the opportunity to help the most vulnerable children on the planet.

Who will be there?
Sheri McConnell, Director of the World Vision Artist Collective, and a few other key people from her team will host an evening at HeArt School. This will be specifically for musicians, performance artists, photographers, and others active in the creative industry in our community. At this gathering they will share how artists (not just musicians) can partner with World Vision as a creative voice for good. Where Creative Community & Cause Connect – Leading To Global Change.
If you are a musician, speaker, author, photographer, visual artist, poet, film maker or performer who will take your place on the center stage of culture, shed light on injustice to empower the most vulnerable, this is for you.
